The Old School Players is a group of guys who have been playing video games most of their lives. The guys currently play together over the Internet via Microsoft's Xbox Live online gaming service.

The initial three members, Cocoa Crusty, Troyz R Us, and d0rkb0y, originally came up with the name, Old School Players, because they had all begun playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War, for the Xbox entertainment console, together over the Internet through the Xbox Live online service. They enjoyed playing the game together and wanted to form a team, often referred to as a "clan" in the online gaming community.

Since the philosophy of the gamers was "Fun First, Victory Second", they decided to choose a name for their team that would be considered non-threatening and unoffensive. They decided to use the name Old School Players. They chose the name, not only for its reference to pimps, players, and hustlers of old, but for the ability to play off of the words Old School Players in a gaming sense. The members of the Old School Players have been playing video games collectively for over 100 years on multiple platforms.
